Transporters end strike after successful negotiations with government
Karachi: Goods transporters on Monday ended a strike that cost the economy billions in loss, after successful negotiations with the federal government.

Governor Sindh, Imran Ismail, thanked transporters for ending the strike. "We tried that neither they [transporters] nor the government suffers a loss," the governor said, adding that the government has no desire to stop the working of the industrial sector, which is linked to the transport sector. "Prime Minister Imran Khan believes that transporters keep the industrial sector running," he said.

Giving details of the terms of ending the strike, Imran Ismail said the matter of axle load will be settled on Monday while the police will not unduly bother transporters.

About the issue of licenses, Imran Ismail said that concerned departments have been instructed to open more branches.

He told the transporters to help Imran Khan in building a new Pakistan.
