Govt working to bring economic stability in country: Hafeez
Islamabad: Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh has said that government is working to bring economic stability in the country.

While addressing the national assembly session in Islamabad today, he said that the parliament has to decide whether to take this country forward or not.

“I will try my best not to indulge in politics or point scoring and focus on economy. The economy of country is directly affecting people. There were times when Pakistan’s economy was stabilizing in 1960s. We need to identify causes why we lagged behind rest of the world,” he said.

Hafeez Sheikh further said that opposition should wait till 2023 for elections.

“No PM was able to complete its tenure in Pakistan’s 72 years of history which is unfortunate. We need to work together in order to make Pakistan a stabilized country,” he said.

The advisor further said that Pakistan has not been able to convince investors in last 72 years

“The growth of our economy does not sustain for more than two years. There is no country in the world where people are uneducated yet the country progresses. When we assumed charges, this government had a debt of 30 thousand billion,” he said.

He further said that the government can publish rupee not dollars.

“The current account deficit was huge when we assumed charges. The growth rate of agriculture was also zero. We had to work from scratch to bring stability,” he said.
