Punjab completes procurement of 3.64 million metric tonnes of wheat: Provincial Food Minister
Lahore: Provincial Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan on Sunday said that procurement of 3.64 million metric tonnes of wheat has been completed in Punjab and as soon as the target is achieved, the quota of flour mills will be increased.

According to details, Punjab Food Minister Aleem Khan said that the department has completed the procurement of 3.64 million metric tonnes of wheat in Punjab.

The current government has bought the most wheat as compared to the last three years, the provincial minister said, adding that the biggest target for wheat procurement has been set at 4.5 million metric tonnes.

Aleem Khan said that Punjab has never procured such a large quantity of wheat in the past. "Procurement of 3.6 million metric tonnes of wheat is a big target", he added.

He assured that the Punjab government will not let the people to face shortage of wheat.

The provincial food minister said in a tweet that the success in purchasing wheat would also have a positive impact on the flour mills, adding that the quota of flour mills would be increased as soon as the target was achieved.

Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that action against hoarders has made the target of wheat procurement easier and the target of wheat procurement in the province is the result of excellent teamwork.

The Food Minister also commended the District Administration and Food Department officials for the success of wheat procurement.
