In historic first, licenses issued to private firms for LNG import
Islamabad: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for the first time in the history of Pakistan has issued licenses for the import of LNG to two private companies.
Tabeer Energy Marketing (Pvt) Limited (TEMPL) and Energas Marketing (Pvt) Limited (EMPL) Karachi have secured the licenses for the period of ten years starting from January 8, 2021.
The licensee shall be entitled to charge RLNG/natural gas price in accordance with the government policy guidelines issued from time to time by the federal government, said an Ogra notification.
A period of one year has been granted to the private firms to meet the certain condition for launching their operations.
As per the notification, the licensee shall pay the annual fee of 0.25 percent of the annual turnover/estimated turnover of the licensee from the sale of natural gas in respect of the most recent completed fiscal year.
