Asad Umar sees no reason for further rupee devaluation
Karachi: Asad Umar has said that he sees no reason for the rupee to devalue any further.
Addressing a gathering at the Karachi Stock Exchange via video link from Islamabad, the finance minister said “The State Bank of Pakistan has said that rupee’s value is in equilibrium. Earlier, it was artificially kept high.”
He further added that his government had not spoken with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about the dollar to rupee exchange rate.
“Don’t waste your money in buying dollars,” the finance minister advised those present.
Asad Umar also said, “The government has taken difficult decisions in the interest of the country,” he concluded his speech by saying that work on National Finance Commission has started.
