Chunian murder case: Policemen turned into street vendors to arrest culprit
Chunian: Policemen went undercover to trace and arrest the culprit involved in rape and murder of four minors in Chunian, GNN has learned.

As per details garnered, Police personnel transformed themselves into street vendors and sold ice-cream, fruits, fritters and samosas to trace the culprit. Some policemen also drove rickshaw.

Police officials pointed out suspicious persons to tighten the noose around the culprit and through 24/7 surveillance and conventional police methods, police successfully nabbed the culprit.

During the secret search operation, female police personnel also played vital role to trace the culprit.

It is pertinent to mention here that the culprit involved in rape and murder of four minors in Chunian was arrested yesterday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar announced the arrest of culprit involved in rape and murder of four minors in Chunian.

“DNA recovered from clothes of Faizan and Hassan Ali [deceased children] has matched with DNA of Sohail Shehzad. The culprit is involved in rape and murder of all four children”, announced CM Buzdar.

“The identity of all four children has been made possible through their DNA tests”, added Buzdar.

CM further stated that geo-fencing of as many as 1649 suspects was carried out by the authorities-concerned. He added, “The culprit has been identified through forensic test of samples of blood and cement present on clothes of one of the deceased child.”

CM Punjab thanked officials of Punjab Police, Forensic dept and intelligence authorities for tracing the culprit in such short-duration.

“Chunian will be linked with Punjab Safe City Project to save vulnerable children from sexual abuse”, vowed Buzdar.
On Sept 17, Kasur Police had recovered remains of three minors from Chunian’s industrial area.

As per details garnered, two of the minors had gone missing nearly two months ago while the third one was kidnapped on Sept 16. Despite repeated requests from the families of the missing children, police took no action.

Back then in Jan 2018, six-year-old Zainab Ansari—on her way to a Quran recital—was abducted from Kasur by her neighbor. The minor rape and murder incited countrywide outrage and protests while members of civil society demanded stern legislation to save the vulnerable children from sexual predators.

Kasur has repeatedly garnered international eyeballs for recurring incidents of child sexual abuse in recent years.
