Another polio case emerged in KP
Peshawar: The number of polio cases reached 22 in the running year after a new case emerged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), GNN reported on Friday.

A four and half years old child, who hails from Peshawar’s Safaid Dheri, has contracted the virus.

The sample of the patient was sent to laborotory on July 13 and its results came back positive.

This is the first coronavirus case reported in Peshawar in four years as earlier polio had crippled a child in Peshawar in 2016.

What is Polio?

Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a disabling and life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus.

The virus spreads from person to person and can infect a person’s spinal cord, causing paralysis (can’t move parts of the body).

The virus lives in an infected person’s throat and intestines.
