Karachi districts to go under smart, micro-lockdowns amid Covid-19 resurgence
Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani announced on Friday that smart and micro-lockdowns will be imposed in all districts of the city to control Covid-19 resurgence.

The commission took the decision in a meeting which was attended by all deputy commissioners, district health officers and other officials.

The smart lockdown will be imposed in four districts that include South, West, Central and East while the micro lockdown will be enforced in two districts – Korangi and Malir.

A notification in this regard will be issued by today or tomorrow.

All deputy commissioners have been asked to take further steps in this regard after having consultation with health officers.

The tally of fatalities due to the novel coronavirus in Pakistan surged to 7,561 after 36 deaths were recorded during the past 24 hours.

A total of 2,738 new cases of infections was also recorded, taking the tally to 368,665.

Sindh now has 159,752 cases, Punjab 112,893, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 43,359, Balochistan 16,642, Islamabad and Capital Territories 25,719, Azad Kashmir 5,806 and Gilgit-Baltistan has 4,494 cases.

After the death tally on Thursday, province and territories wise fatalities total 2,811 in Punjab, 2,780 in Sindh, 1,319 in KP, 158 in Balochistan, 266 in Islamabad, 134 in Azad Kashmir and 93 in GB.
