Patients suffer as doctors go on strike in Lower Dir
Lower Dir: Doctors have gone on a complete strike to protest against government plans to privatize public hospitals, leaving patients in the lurch.

Almost 100 surgeries were delayed, and approximately 3000 people who came to the Out Patient Wards were turned away without treatment.

The doctor’s association maintained that by bringing a bill pertaining to privatization, the government had broken its word. They complained that the Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had assured the doctors that they will be taken into confidence whenever the government planned to make a move, but he had gone back on his words.

The doctors said that if their complaints were not paid heed to, they would expand the strike to other areas.
