Sunny Deol to attend Kartarpur Corridor inauguration ceremony tomorrow
Lahore: Bollywood actor turned politician Sunny Deol will arrive in Pakistan on Saturday to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor, GNN reported.

Confirmation of the actor’s arrival in Pakistan was also given by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh of India’s Punjab on Thursday.

The actor turned politician is a BJP lawmaker from India’s Gurdaspur district.

"If I won't go, who will? I'll definitely go. It is my area and my home," the BJP MP from Gurdaspur was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Punjab Congress Leader, Navjot Singh Sidhu also get approval to visit Pakistan and take part in the Kartarpur Corridor opening ceremony.

The leader had sought permission from the external affairs ministry to attend the event, after receiving an invitation by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Corridor is being opened on the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji beginning from Tuesday.

The landmark project initiated on the directives of Imran Khan as a peace-building measure for the region and to promote interfaith harmony is entirely funded and executed by Pakistan as a gift for Sikh community.

The gurdwara will be “the biggest Sikh gurdwara” or worship place in the world.

The step highlights Pakistan’s efforts for promoting religious harmony and peace in the region. The Islamabad’s move to open the Kartarpur Corridor for the facilitation of the Sikh community is being widely appreciated by the Sikh leaders.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, as a mark of utmost facilitation, has waived off the condition of passport and the fee for pilgrims, who are visiting Pakistan, on the day of inauguration of the corridor and Guru JI's birthday.

Initially, 5,000 yatrees (pilgrims) per day are expected to come from India.
