UK: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to step back as senior members of royal family.

Couple made the announcement through a statement in which they said that they have come to a decision "after many months of reflection and internal discussions".

They also maintained that they wanted to become financially independent".

"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter," the statement read.

Reportedly, the decision has resulted in disappointment in the royal family.

According to royal correspondent Jonny Dymond, “It is very clear the palace is very upset about what has happened."

The Royal Family are said to be "hurt" at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's announcement they will step back as senior royals.

It is being said that both Harry and Meghan did not consult any royal family member before making the statement.
