Ali Rehman speaks up against animal abuse in Islamabad zoo
Islamabad: Actor Ali Rehman Khan has spoken up against the tragic deaths of two lions of Islamabad Zoo that died at the hands of unprofessional animal caretakers died while being transferred to sanctuary in Lahore.

Taking to twitter, he asked what kind of idiot lights a fire to get lions out of their cages.

He further demanded all zoos to be shut and all animals to be sent back.

“What kind of an idiot lights a fire to get lions out of their cages? And leave it there?? Already our zoos are in bad shape and now this? All zoos should be shut, animals sent back. We don’t have the expertise & we shouldn’t pretend to either! Sick and down right criminal,” Ali tweeted.

Yesterday, a male lion and lioness from Islamabad Zoo died while being moved to a sanctuary in Lahore.

In video taking rounds, caretakers can be seen lighting fire inside the cage forcing the lion to move out of it which resulted in suffocation. The lion was later shifted to a veterinary hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

The process of catching and shifting animals from cages causes stress, which is compounded by the hot and humid weather.

Lack of management and poor facilities have led to the death of several animals in Islamabad zoo, raising serious concerns against management
