The Lion King is the “live-action” adaptation of the 1994 Oscar-winning classic. Critics have been marveling at the film's beautiful effects which have been described as a "game-changer" for VFX.
Eric Davis of The Independent praising the movie says, "The Lion King is visually immaculate & a game-changer for visual effects. It’s absolutely stunning in every way. The music shines, the performances are great & the emotions run high."
‘The Lion King delivers. It’s a visual masterpiece that will leave you smiling and crying the whole time. It’s a true testament to the lasting effect Disney movies have on all generations,” says Rebecca Lewis writing for Metro.
Hollywood film critic Jennifer Biset shares her opinion by saying, "The Lion King ... was more than anything I ever could've wanted. It's a visual masterpiece that will leave you smiling and crying the whole time."
“The Lion King” is a landmark visual experience,” wrote Buzzfeed’s Adam B. Vary adding “I have never seen anything like it, and I think it’s going to change how we look at movies forever. As an emotional experience, though…I’ll put it this way: It turns out lions can’t really emote.”
Disney has already enjoyed massive success this year with its live-action Aladdin adaptation, which has grossed over $920 million worldwide. Aladdin managed to be a massive box office hit with middling reviews, so the sky could be the limit for “The Lion King” based on these first overwhelmingly positive reactions.
