Remembering comedian Albela on his 15th death anniversary
Renowned Film, TV and theatre actor, Akhrat Hussain urf Albela, was one of the comic geniuses of Pakistan’s film and comedy industry.

Born in the city of Gojra, Punjab, Albela became famous for his stage performances and within no time started to be recognized as one of the legendary comedians. His duo with another legend, Amanullah, gave theatre a new dimension altogether.

He started working at a very young age and starred in a hit film “Farishta”, which was released in 1963. Seven years after the release of his debut film, in 1970, Albela started his theatrical career on stage. His most famous play was “Yay Beychaaray Log” which he performed frequently at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Open Air Theatre.

Albela’s catch was his witty dialogues and hilarious physical which entertained audience immensely. Amongst his famous films are “Ishq Nachaao Gali Gali”, “Baao Ji” and “Sawera”.

He breathed his last on 17th July 2004 after suffering a heart attack but his legacy is still alive.
