Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has shortage of manpower: Shehryar Afridi
Peshawar: Minister of State for Safron and Narcotics Control, Shehryar Afridi has said that Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has shortage of manpower.

While addressing a ceremony in Peshawar on Thursday, he said that there are around 2900 ANF personnel in the country.

“In past nothing was done to increase manpower in the department of Anti Narcotics Force (ANF). There are around 2900 personnel dealing with the issue of drugs all over the country and this number needs to be increased,” he said.

The federal minister added that there is mafia operational in the selling and purchasing of drugs and narcotics.

“Pervious governments did not do anything to control drug selling and purchase. There are different types of drugs available everywhere even in jails. Parents are not aware if their son or daughter is using drugs,” he said adding that they are trying to tackle the usage of drugs in colleges and universities.

Shehryar Afridi added that this is considered as the most profitable business.

“We are making laws to tackle ice and crystal drug. ANF forces have laid their lives while dealing with drug mafia. We will make sure the supremacy of law,” he said.
