4 new polio cases reported in Pakistan
Peshawar: Four new cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan, taking the total number of polio-affected cases to 67 in the current year, GNN reported.

According to details, 4 more polio cases, three each from Lakki Marwat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and one from Karachi, were reported.

Authorities confirmed that two-and-a-half-year-old child has been diagnosed with polio virus, while two other children, aged only two months, have also been confirmed in Lakki Marwat. Authorities further said that a 2-year-old child of Karachi's Jamshed Town has also been diagnosed with the polio virus.

According to the report of World Health Organization (WHO), 49 polio cases from KP, six each from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan provinces were reported.

Pakistan is among three countries in the world, including Afghanistan and Nigeria, where polio virus still exists and the country remains under a polio-linked travel restriction imposed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Nigeria will be listed as the polio-free country as no new case were reported in since 2016.

In 2014, the WHO made it mandatory for all people traveling from Pakistan to carry a polio vaccination certificate.
