Heavy snowfall, rain: PM directs concerned authorities to provide immediate relief to people
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued directives to the concerned authorities to provide all possible assistance and relief to people stuck in their areas due to torrential rains and heavy snowfall.

The prime minister took to twitter to say that the severe snowfalls and landslides in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have caused misery and deaths.

“The severe snowfalls and landslides in AJK have caused misery & deaths. I have asked the NDMA, the military & all our federal ministers to immediately provide all humanitarian assistance on an emergency footing to the affected people in AJK,” PM wrote.

 

At least 70 people have been dead as heavy snowfall and rain hits different parts of country.

According to a report by National Management Disaster Authority (NDMA), at least 70 people were killed while 29 sustained injuries as cold weather wrecks havoc in different parts of country.

The report reveals that around 51 people have lost their lives in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Among other provinces, Balochistan has been most affected by the snowfall and rains where temperature dropped down to minus in most districts. Around 15 people lost their lives while 11 were injured as a result of calamitous snowfall in Balochistan, NDMA report stated.

On the other hand, at least 10 people are reported missing as a result of land sliding and snowfall in AJK.
