PM Imran wants emergency in country to end food adulteration
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that adulteration in food items will not be tolerated at any cost and called for imposition of an emergency to beat the illegal practice.

He stated this during a high-level meeting to review the prices of basic food commodities around the country after the approval of Rs10 billion package.

The premier said that poor food quality caused various diseases and posed threat to the children health, adding that adulteration affected kids growth.

He directed the authorities to enforce emergency at national level to prevent adulteration of food, besides calling for a national action plan to beat the menace.

During the meeting, he was apprised of prices of the items by provincial chief secretaries. The premier was informed that prices were moving towards stability in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

However, raise in prices was witnessed in the province of Sindh, the prime minister was told. He expressed concerns over price instability.

Talking about wheat flour prices in Sindh, the prime minister hinted at reviewing an application for releasing one hundred thousand ton wheat to the provincial government.  He called for action against hoarders.
