Coronavirus threat: Firdous invites opposition to work with govt
Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan has invited opposition leaders including PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to work collectively with government on Coronavirus situation.

While briefing media in Islamabad today, she said that now all parties in government and opposition should work together to deal with Coronavirus situation.

“I urge all opposition leaders to keep politics aside and come forward and work with the government in solving the coronavirus crisis,” she said.

She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team is ready and determined to face the challenge of Coronavirus.

“In order to prevent the spread of virus, the government is taking timely steps and analyzing the changing situation at the national, regional, and international levels,” she said.

Informing media on the decisions taken by the federal cabinet, she said it has been approved to pay profit on tax exemptions on foreign and commercial loans.

“The amount for per acre land of evacuee properties in Nankana Sahib has been approved to 45,000 rupees. The cabinet has also renamed National History and Literary Heritage Division to National Heritage and Culture Division,” she stated.

The number of total coronavirus cases has surged to 1,000 in Pakistan while 19 people have recuperated from the disease so far.

The country reported 24 cases during the last 24 hours. The infectious disease has claimed eight lives in Pakistan while five patients are reported to be in critical condition. Trains and flights operations have been suspended in the country.
