PIA plane crash, PM expresses shock and sadness over the tragic incident
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed shock and sadness over the loss of precious lives in tragic Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash.

Taking to twitter, PM wrote that he was in touch with CEO PIA Arshad Malik who has left for Karachi.

PM further ordered the authorities to speed up rescue efforts.

“Shocked & saddened by the PIA crash. Am in touch with PIA CEO Arshad Malik, who has left for Karachi & with the rescue & relief teams on ground as this is the priority right now. Immediate inquiry will be instituted. Prayers & condolences go to families of the deceased,” PM wrote.


A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crashed near Model Colony in Karachi on Friday afternoon.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), flight 8303 took off from Lahore airport and was slated to land at Karachi airport when it crashed near Model Colony, a residential area near Lahore Airport.

More than 100 passengers were travelling in the plane including seven crew members and two captains, PIA sources revealed.

Few houses and cars have also been damaged in the incident.

Army, Rangers and Police units have arrived at the scene. Emergency has been declared at different hospitals of Karachi.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Quick Reaction Force and Pakistan Rangers Sindh troops have reached incident site for relief and rescue efforts alongside civil administration.

It said the army’s aviation helicopters have flown to the crash site for damage assessment and rescue efforts as urban search and rescue teams are also being dispatched to the site for rescue efforts.

Sindh government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has imposed emergency and has cordoned off the area.
