PIA plane crash toll rises to 97
According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), flight PK8303 took off from Lahore airport and was slated to land at Jinnah International airport when it crashed in the residential area of Model Colony in Malir, nearly 4km away from the site of incident.
Few houses and cars also damaged in the incident, besides injuring number of local residents.
The relief and rescue work at the site of plane crash near Karachi airport continues and 97 dead bodies have been recovered from the debris until now while the two survivors of the crash are under treatment in the hospital.
The health department of Sindh has confirmed that the death toll in the plane crash incident rises to 66. The officials said that 44 dead bodies were shifted to Jinnah Hospital and 32 to Civil Hospital.
At least 17 victims killed in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash had been identified so far.
Meanwhile, Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Humayon Aziz also visited the place of the tragic incident and reviewed the ongoing rescue and relief operation.
He said that the on the directive of COAS, personnel of Pakistan Army and Rangers are busy in rescue operation.
