‘It’s a big hike,’ says Asad after PTI govt raises petrol prices
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives on Monday said that he was not involved in a government decision about the recent hike in petroleum prices.

Talking to media, Umar termed the Rs25 hike in per litre petrol price a “major surge”. He added that the Ministry of Finance will have taken the decision after reviewing all aspects.

Talking about budget approval by the National Assembly, he said that Finance Bill 2020 was passed with a majority, which is bigger than prim minister’s election.

All claims and analysis of the opposition proved wrong, he said.

On Friday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government raised petroleum products prices massively. It increased petrol price by Rs25.58 to Rs100.10.

The government also raised prices of diesel and kerosene oil.
