Anti-Terrorism (Third Amendment) Bill 2020 sails through NA
Islamabad: The National Assembly on Tuesday approved Anti-Terrorism (Third Amendment) Bill, 2020 in order to address issues related to terror financing.

The bill was presented in the assembly by Faheem Khan. The anti-terror financing legislation is being made in Pakistan to compliance with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendation to strengthen the system in the country.

Pakistan is currently on FATF’s grey list while the international watchdog will review the compliance report.

The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was also tabled in the National Assembly.

The bill proposes amendments in the Pakistan Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, penalising those involved in ridiculing and defaming the armed forces of Pakistan or any of its member intentionally.

A person guilty of such offence will be punished with imprisonment for a term up to two years or fined for up to five hundred thousand rupees.

The amendment aims at controlling hatred and disrespectful behavior against the armed forces.
