Income support levy: LHC seeks response of FBR over Maryam's appeal
Lahore: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a response of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) while suspending a notice by the Inland Revenue department against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

According to details, a two-member bench of LHC, headed by Justice Ameer Bhatti, took up the plea of Maryam Nawaz, challenging a notice by the Inland Revenue department of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for recovery of income support levy.

Maryam Nawaz through her counsel moved the appeal assailing an LHC single bench’s verdict regarding income support levy, citing the Federal Board of Revenue and other relevant officials as respondents.

Maryam Nawaz stated in her petition that she has been served a notice by the Federal Board of Revenue for recovery of Rs 657,000 income support levy despite the fact that she had paid all taxes and requested the court to declare it illegal.

The court directed the FBR to submit its response in this regard on next hearing.
