ICT Waqf Properties Bill approved in joint session
Islamabad: A joint session of parliament on Wednesday has approved the Islamabad Capital Territories (ICT) Waqf Properties Bill.

The bill, tables by Advisor to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Babar Awan, was initially passed through a voice vote. However, after vehement objections by the opposition benches, speaker Asad Qaiser requested members to rise from their seats.

The Bill was passed with 200 voting in favour and 190 members voting against it.

Earlier in the day, Senate had rejected the Anti Terrorism Act (Amendment) Bill after it was passed by the parliament.

34 senators voted against the bill while 31 voted in favour. This is now the third Financial Action Task Force (FATF) related bill that the opposition has successfully blocked.
