Peshawar BRT temporarily suspended
Peshawar: Following multiple incidents of buses catching fire, BRT service in the provincial capital was suspended on Wednesday, spokesman for Trans Peshawar has confirmed.

"All buses will now be checked before resuming service. Safety of passengers is our foremost consideration," the spokesperson said.

While confirming that reasons behind two of the buses that caught fire are being investigated, the spokesperson said that the company that manufactured the buses is conducting reviews.

"The decision has been taken in the best interest of the citizens. All buses will go through comprehensive investigation and evaluation. No bus will be allowed to resume service without technical clearance," the spokesperson confirmed.

BRT Peshawar, the flagship project if the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has repeatedly run into problems during construction. Since the service has been inaugrated, three incidents of buses catching fire have been reported.
