Huge crowds pack Lahore for Khadim Rizvi’s funeral
Lahore: Huge crowds gathered at Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park (Minar-e-Pakistan) for the funeral prayers of party chief Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

According to details, the funeral prayers were offered by Allama Abdul Sattar Saeedi, who is also Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s teacher and mentor.

He will be laid to rest at Rehmatul Lil Alameen Mosque (Yateem Khana Chowk).

The Lahore police had deployed thousands of policemen for security purposes.

Khadim Hussain Rizvi passed away on Thursday after reportedly suffering from fever and breathing issues.

He was being shifted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore after his health deteriorated but he died before reaching the medical facility.

The deceased cleric was born in 1966 in the Pindigheb area of Attock District, Punjab. He started taking classes to memorise the Holy Quran in Jhelum.

He also studied at Jamia Nizamia, Lahore. He was Sheikh-ul-Hadith. He had been serving as an auqaf official in the Punjag government.

However, he was removed from the office for justifying the assassination of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer by Mumtaz Qadri.

He founded the TLP, a political front of the Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYP), in 2015. His party is known for its countrywide protests in opposition to any change in blasphemy laws.
