Nawaz Sharif’s mother Begum Shamim Akhtar passes away
Lahore: Mother of Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Begum Shamim Akhtar has passed away in London.

According to details, Begum Shamim was in London along with his son Nawaz Sharif, where she breathed her last after suffering from prolonged illness. She was 90 years old.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz have been informed about the death of their mother.

Meanwhile, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz has also been informed about death of her grand-mother in Peshawar where she is attending Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally.

Son of Shehbaz Sharif, Suleiman Shahbaz in an exclusive interview with GNN said that Begum Shamim will be buried in Lahore.

He added that a request will be made to release Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz on parole as both leaders are in Kot Lakhpat Jail presently.

The news was first confirmed by senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Attaullah Tarar in a tweet.

“Mother of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif has passed away,” he wrote.



Prime Minister Imran Khan, Former President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar have expressed sorrow over the demise of Behum Shamim Akhtar and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
