Justice Athar Minallah to be new CJ IHC
Islamabad: The Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of Judges (PCAJ) approved appointment of Justice Athar Minallah as a new chief justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) here on Thursday.

A meeting of PCAJ was attended by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan, Farooq H Naek and Raja Pervez Ashraf of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Rana Sanaullah and Javed Abbasi Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), Nauman Wazir of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Sarfaraz Bugti of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
Justice Minallah will replace current Chief Justice IHC Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi after his retirement on November 27.
A Judicial commission was formed on November 1 which was headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar. The commission also recommended to appoint Justice Athar Minallah as new CJ IHC.
Justice Athar Minallah remained much active during the campaign for restoration of judiciary during Gen Pervez Musharraf’s rule.
