Federal Minister Azam Swati tenders resign from his designation
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati has resigned from his designation following Supreme Court’s order to launch trial against him in a case regarding transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IG) Jan Muhammad.

According to details, PTI Minister Azam Swati has resigned from his post following Supreme Court’s (SC) order to launch a trial against him under Article 62 (1)(f) regarding the transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IG) Jan Muhammad.

The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has been informed about his decision.

Earlier yesterday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, while hearing the case of transfer of IGP Islamabad, remarked that SC will conduct Federal Minister Azam Swati’s trial under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.

It is the same article under which Supremo of PML-N and Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and Active PTI Leader Jahangir Tareen were disqualified.

A three-judge bench headed by the chief justice heard the Suo Motu case of the Islamabad IGP’s transfer.

Earlier on November 29, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that Federal Minister Azam Swati misused his powers and sought a clarification from him under Article 62 (1)(F).
