Sania Nishtar appointed Special Advisor to PM Imran
Islamabad: Dr Sania Nishtar has been appointed special advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan on social protection and poverty alleviation programme, said a notification issued by the PM Office media wing.

Dr Sania will be considered equivalent to a federal minister, the notification added.

She is also the chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

Sania Nishtar is a Pakistani cardiologist, author and activist who has served as an interim federal cabinet in 2013 where she oversaw public health, education and science.

Currently, the Peshawar-born co-chairs WHO’s High-Level Commission on Non-communicable diseases along with the Presidents of Uruguay, Finland and Sri-Lanka.

She is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the future of healthcare.
