Shehbaz Sharif to appear before court in Ashiana housing Scheme case
Lahore: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Monday will appear before an accountability court in Lahore Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme case

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president will be presented before the court as Special Judge Accountability Court Syed Jawadul Hassan will resume hearing the matter.

Other accused including principal secretary to former prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad and former Director General LDA Ahad Cheema will appear before the court to record their statements.

Strict security measures had been put in place with roads leading up to the accountability court closed off.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against Shehbaz and his son – leaders of the opposition in the National and Punjab assemblies, respectively – naming them as the primary accused in the scam.

NAB officials said Shehbaz, being chief minister of Punjab, misused his authority by issuing directives for the construction of a 10 kilometer long drain in Chiniot district primarily to benefit the sugar mills his son owned.

Shehbaz and Hamza have been accused of fraudulently causing a Rs213 million loss to the national exchequer.
