NA Speaker Asad Qaiser suspends all standing committee meetings
Islamabad: In an apparent attempt to limit expenses, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has suspended meetings of all standing committees for an indefinite period.

He has further instructed to call upon the meetings only during the sessions of National Assembly, sources told.

According to Qaiser, the decision to cancel the meetings of the standing committees was taken in consideration of the austerity drive.

However, the opposition claims that the decision has come in the wake of arrested opposition members, Asif Ali Zardari and Saad Rafique, attending the standing committee sessions on production orders.

After the cancellation of the meetings of the standing committees, the issue of Zardari and Saad Rafique’s production orders was also deferred.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier instructed not to allow any parliamentary member including Asif Ali Zardari to attend standing committee meetings on production orders.
