Karachi faces major power breakdown as heavy downpour continues
Karachi is receiving heavy monsoon rain since past two days, causing electric supply failure in most areas of the city.

The overflow of Lath Dam has created a critical situation at KVKDA 220 Grid, causing a major breakdown in the metropolis, said spokesperson K- Electric adding that as a safety measure they were forced to suspend supply to feeders associated with the grid, forcing power outages in Gulshan, North- Nazimabad, Azizabad, Liaqatabad, Malir, Surjani, Shadman, Johar, Gulistan Kalim among many others.

“Work to remove water from grid station is underway and we hope to resume power supply in a short time span,” said the spokesperson while talking to GNN. “The army personnel are working on ground to manage the situation.”

At least 22 people have been killed in rain-related as city received heavy monsoon showers causing urban flooding.
