India decision over Kashmir's special status has intensified tensions: FM Qureshi
Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday said that India's decision to revoke the special constitutional status of occupied Kashmir through a rushed presidential order has intensified the tensions between the two countries.

While talking exclusively to GNN, the foreign minister said that neither the people of Jammu and Kashmir nor Pakistan will accept India's decision.

"Every Kashmiri, on both sides of the borders, has rejected the decision taken by India", FM Qureshi said.

Commenting over the Indian move, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India is losing credibility at the international front. The public in occupied Kashmir has opposed the abrogation. "India is mistaken if it thinks that it can suppress the struggle of Kashmiris by deploying more military personnel in the occupied territory," he added.

“I am foreseeing further repression. Abrogation of Article 370 will lead to more bloodshed in Indian occupied Kashmir," the Foreign Minister predicted, adding that, "Time will prove that India has made a wrong decision.”

The FM futher said that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN) have already been briefed about the issue.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi asserted, “United Nations will have to play its role in resolving the Kashmir issue."
