Pakistan rejects India's decision over Kashmir's special status
Islamabad: Pakistan has condemned and rejected the decision of BJP-led Indian government regarding the special status of Indian Occupied Kashmir, said a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

FO Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said on Monday, the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory.

Dr Muhammad Faisal remarked that no unilateral step by the Indian government can change this disputed status, as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

He added that as the party to this international dispute, Pakistan will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps.

Earlier in the day, India’s Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the government has decided to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to the disputed territory.

The Modi-government also decided to bifurcate the state into two Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.
