India has failed to take attention away from Kashmir: Asad Majeed Khan
Pakistan's ambassador to the United States Asad Majeed Khan said that India has failed to take attention away from Kashmir issue.

He said that India’s unilateral actions have posed a grave threat to the peace and security of region.

“Unilaterally changing the status of a region, which is seen by the international community as a disputed territory, has really put the region at the verge of a serious conflict,” the ambassador stated.

Asad Majeed further said that there is a complete lockdown in Kashmir with communication blackout. He called out the international community to intervene and take notice of human rights violations in Kashmir.

“India has created severe crisis in Kashmir. It is time for United States and other international players to intervene,” he said adding that President Trump’s offer to mediate was appreciated by Kashmiris.

The ambassador added that China has assured its complete support to Pakistan and has opposed unilateral move of Indian government.

“I think the provocation has come from India. Pakistan has been very consistent in making peace efforts with India. Unfortunately, those gestures have not been reciprocated,” he said.
