GNN honours martyrs on Defence Day
On the occasion of Defence Day, GNN’s senior anchors visited the homes of martyrs across to pay respects to their families and honour their supreme sacrifices for Pakistan.

Under the slogan of “Aayen chalain shaheed k ghar”, GNN’s senior anchors met the families of martyrs and paid tribute to the brave sons of soil.

Nation is celebrating Defence Day today with great zeal and enthusiasm. In order to recognize the sacrifices of martyrs, the government announced to commemorate Defence Day as Martyrs Day and urged every citizen to visit the families of martyrs.

In this regard, a team comprising senior anchors of GNN, also visited the homes of martyrs, met their families and appreciated the sacrifices their sons/brothers have made for motherland.

GNN’s president, Dr. Shahid Masood visited the residence of Second Lieutenant Arsalan, met his family and paid tributes to the martyr for rendering his life for the security of the homeland. Second Lieutenant Arsalan was martyred while chasing a group of terrorists in Khyber 4. He was the only brother to three sisters. His sisters showing immense proud told Dr. Shahid that they want their own sons to join Pakistan Army like Arsalan.  

Senior journalist and analyst, Arif Hameed Bhatti visited the residence of Kargil War hero Captain Jawad Cheema Shaheed, paid tribute to the martyr and presented his family with a bouquet. Captain Jawad Shaheed’s mother said that she was proud of his son and wanted his grandsons to follow their father’s footsteps and join army.

Senior analyst and journalist, Imran Yaqub Khan met the family of Captain Salman Sarwar Shaheed and conveyed that the whole nation is proud of their son. Speaking on the occasion, Captain Salman’s father said that these meetings with the family of martyrs are enough to raise the morale of soldiers performing duties on borders.

GNN’s anchor-person Ayesha Baksh, visited the widowed of Colonel Dr. Fakhar-ul-Hassan, who embraced martyrdom along with his two sons in Prade Lane attack in Rawalpindi. Dr. Fakhar Shaheed’s wife said that martyrs never die and they are always present with us.

The families of martyrs thanked GNN team for visiting them and expressed their desire to continue this series of meetings.
