Kabaddi World Cup 2020: Pakistan qualifies for semi-final
Faisalabad: Pakistan on Thursday booked a place in semi-final round after defeating Australia on the fifth day of Kabaddi World Cup 2020 in Faisalabad.

Pakistan kabaddi team outplayed Australian team by 62-25 in a Pool ‘B’. Pakistan raiders skipper Irfan Mana, Lala Obaidullah, Kaleemullah Jatt, Bilal Mohsin Dhillon showed impressive performance in the match. The stoppers of the team also exhibited similar form to bag victory.

In Pool ‘A’ match, India also confirmed their place in the semi-final after beating Iran by 50-39 while Germany defeated inexperienced Sierra Leone by 43-14.

Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports Malik Umer Farooq, President Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) Ch Shafay Hussain distributed prizes among the top players.

The eight-day long event started from February 9 and the matches will be played in Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujrat.

This is the first time that Pakistan is hosting the event. Earlier, India had hosted all of the previous six-circle-style kabaddi world cups.

Teams participating in the event are Pakistan, India, Canada, the United States, Australia, England, Iran, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Azerbaijan.
