Former champions Serena, Federer and Nadal strives for more Wimbledon wins
London: With Wimbledon tournament underway, former champions Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are struggling for more wins to hold the trophy one more time.

In order to reach semi-finals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have to face Kei Nishikori and Sam Querrey respectively. In case of winning the quarterfinals, they would clash at Wimbledon for the first time since the 2008 final, considered by many to be the greatest tennis match ever.

The Roger Federer-Nadal collision course has been derailed at Grand Slams before and Kei Nishikori and Sam Querrey will do their best at Wimbledonon Wednesday to keep fans waiting for another Federer-Nadal encounter.

Whereas, Serena Williams is back in the semifinals of Wimbledon after a stirring 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over an inspired American outsider, Alison Riske, Tuesday on Centre Court.

No former Wimbledon finalists, reigning major champions or current top five players remain in Williams’s path.

Her semifinal opponent, the unseeded 33-year-old Barbora Strycova, has never gone this far in singles at a major tournament before.
