TikTok’s new rival Byte offering ways for content creators to make money
Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann has announced the Byte’s Partner Program stating that amount will be calculated on the basis of total viewership on the posts made during the period by the content creators.
The monetization offer makes the app different from TikTok which has been downloaded more than 1.5 billion times, said Sensor Tower.
The US-based research agency further said that byte has been downloaded over 1.3 billion times from both Google Play and iOS during the first of his launch.
TikTok has left behind Facebook after becoming the second most downloaded app in the world behind WhatsApp.
Here are the details you need to know.
How will creator compensation work?
According to the official website of the app, the creator compensation will work in the following way:
“Every 120 days, we’ll establish a Partner Pool, to be paid out in four 30-day installment periods.
For every 30-day installment period, we’ll calculate your total viewership on the posts you made during the period.
Your total viewership will place you into a Viewership Bracket, which will determine how much you get paid. Creators will earn more as they move into higher Viewership Brackets.
All partners within a Viewership Bracket will be paid the same amount. We expect the number of Viewership Brackets to vary over time.”
How much of byte’s ad revenue will go to creators?
During the pilot period, which is still unspecified, “100% of ad revenue will go to creators through the Partner Program,” the website said.
“Our long-term plan is to have a majority of the revenue going to creators, with a minority going to us to help with our operations and business. We’ll run the pilot until we’re ready for a wider roll-out, which we anticipate will take some time,” it added.
How to become a partner?
To start, the Partner Program will be by invitation under which the byte team will contact creators proactively. You can also apply through its website to be considered in the program.
Will the program be available in my region?
The program has currently been launched in the United States only. The company will share the plan for other areas later.
