Microsoft offers employees permanent work-from-home option
Microsoft has offered its employees the option of permanently working from home with management approval.

The move comes after social media giants Facebook and Twitter also offered their employees the option of work-from-home on a permanent basis.

Microsoft has said that some staff, such as those who need access to hardware, will still have to show up for in-person work. Others will have the option of working from home part-time.

After the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, many offices switched to work-from-home, with 46% of workforce in the UK and 42% in USA working remotely.

Before the pandemic, only 2% of workers were working remotely on a full-time basis.

Office rents in major urban centers such as New York, San Francisco and London have already dropped after the pandemic.
