World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern.
Reason behind celebrating World Post Day is to create awareness regarding the important role of postal sector and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries.
This day is celebrated by United Nations (UN) each year to promote solutions for the international postal sector. Postal sector is considered to be a key component in achieving UN’s agenda of Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Every year, more than 150 countries celebrate this day in their own way. Some release special postal stamps while others observe it by marking a holiday.
