Iraq military base hosting US troops targeted in missile attack
Baghdad: An Iraq military base that houses US troops in the northern province of Kirkuk came under missile attack on Thursday night, international media reported.

There are no immediate reports of any causalities and damages.

A Katyusha-type rocket landed on a military base in the oil rich province, the first attack since the same K1 base was hit by a volley of around 30 missiles, killing a US contractor.

Following the attack, the US started blaming Kataeb Hezbollah, an Iraqi military faction, for the incident. The faction, according to the US, is backed by Iran.

Later, the US carried out a retaliatory attack leaving at least 25 Kataeb Hezbollah fighters dead.

Days after attacking the Kataeb Hezbollah fighter, the US killed Iran’s key military officer Qasem Soleimani in the Baghdad attack, causing tension between the two countries.
