Eid Al Fitr in Saudi Arabia on Sunday as Shawwal moon not sighted
Jeddah: Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid Al Fitr 2020 on Sunday, May 24, announced authorities on Friday.

The announcement was made after Shawwal 1441 Hijri moon was not sighted in the country.

The kingdom has decided to impose complete lockdown across the country from May 23 to 27 following the end of the month of Ramadan due to coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia said the 24-hour nationwide lockdown will be imposed for five days, adding that that decision has been taken following the directives of King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.

Today, Saudi Arabia recorded another 2,642 new cases of coronavirus, taking the total number of infections to 67,719. More than 350 people have lost their lives.
