Delhi: The number of coronavirus infections in India crossed the 5 million mark with 91,120 new cases reported, as infections continued to rise at an alarming rate in the nation with the worst-ever recorded case rate.

The country now has the second-largest number of confirmed cases in the world, 5,018,034. It has reported 82,091 deaths, the third-highest in the world.

The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surged to 29,727,253 and the pandemic has so far claimed over 939,185 lives.

According to latest data, 21,542,361 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far.

The United States tops with nearly 6,788,147 cases and more than 200,197 deaths.

Brazil has reported over 4,384,299 cases and more than 133,207 deaths.

Over 1,073,849 people have infected while 18,785 people died of the virus in Russia.

Peru has reported 738,020 cases while 30,927 deaths.

Colombia has reported 728,590 cases while 23,288 death.

Mexico has reported 71,678 deaths and 676,487 cases.

South Africa has become one of the top five worst-hit countries in the coronavirus pandemic as the country reported over 651,521 infections. The country reported 15,641 deaths.

Spain has recorded 30,004 fatalities and 603,167 infections.

More than 577,338 cases have been reported in Argentina while 11,852 succumbed to death

In Chile, nearly 437,983 cases were confirmed, including more than 12,040 deaths.

Meanwhile, the death toll is 23,453 in Iran as confirmed number of cases is almost 407,353.

France has reported 30,999 deaths and 395,104 cases.

United Kingdom has reported 41,664 fatalities and 374,228 infections.

Saudi Arabia has reported 326,930 cases of coronavirus, while 4,338 coronavirus deaths have been reported.

Turkey reported 294,620 coronavirus cases and 7,186 fatalities.

Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 35,633 fatalities, while 289,990 infections.

Germany has reported 9,445 deaths and 264,844 infections.

Israel has reported 164,402 coronavirus cases while 1,147 deaths.

Canada reported 9,188 fatalities and 138,803 infections due to coronavirus.

Kuwait has reported 568 deaths while over 96,301 people have been tested positive for the virus.

In Belgium, 9,930 people succumbed to the disease while reported 94,795 cases due to the coronavirus.

China -- excluding Hong Kong and Macau -- has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 85,214 cases, with 80,347 recoveries.

Taiwan has reported 499 cases and 7 deaths while 476 patients have already been recovred. Taiwan was one of the countries that managed to control the epidemic caused by the coronavirus with timely measures and border closures.

In addition, the government has issued instructions to citizens not to travel abroad unnecessarily.
