Mehbooba Mufti free after 14 months in detention
Srinagar: Former Chief Minister of Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, has been set free by India, 14 months after her detention begun.

Mufti, along with numerous other Kashmiri politicians, was arrested on August 5, 2019 when India cancelled the special status granted to Kashmir.

Mehbooba Mufti and other politicians were kept in detention under a controversial law which would allow the government to detain anyone without charge for up to two years.

In an audio message, the former Chief Minister said that the people of Kashmir will not forget the insults they have faced since last year. She vowed that the struggle will continue.

She also asked that all other political prisoners be set free immediately.
