US achieves grim milestone with 250,000 deaths from Covid-19
Washington: The United States (US) has reported more than 250,000 deaths from coronavirus, a grim milestone as cases rise once again across the country.

According to details, the country has now reported nearly 11.5 million cases and 250,029 deaths from Covid-19, a virus that emerged in China’s Wuhan last year in November.

US have unfortunately reported more infections and death toll than any other country worldwide.

The epicentre of the US coronavirus outbreak, New York has ordered closure of its schools from Thursday in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The decision to shut down the US's largest public school system came as positive test rates for Covid-19 surpassed the 3% threshold. It will affect some 300,000 children.

On the other hand, referring to the situation of coronavirus, US president-elect Joe Biden said that his administration needs to take immediate action to tackle the pandemic.

He called Donald Trump’s refusal to acknowledge defeat as "totally irresponsible".

"Does anyone understand this? It's about saving lives, for real, this is not hyperbole. More people may die if we don't co-ordinate," he added.
