Wikileaks founder Julian Assange arrested in Ecuador embassy in London
London: British police have arrested Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who has been living in the Ecuadoran embassy in London since 2012.
The arrest came about after the Ecuador government withdrew its asylum.

Assange was arrested on an order by the Westminster Magistrate’s Court issued on 29 June, 2012, for failing to surrender to the court.
The police said that, "He has been taken into custody at a central London police station where he will remain, before being presented before Westminster Magistrates' Court as soon as is possible."

Earlier, Ecuador’s president Lenin Moreno had said that the asylum was being withdrawn because of Assange’s discourteous and aggressive behavior.

Wikileaks has contradicted Moreno’s claims in a tweet that said termination of the asylum was in violation of international law.

Julian Assange has been holed up in the Ecuador embassy since 2012 in fear of being extradited to Sweden to face rape charges.

The Swedish government has dropped the charges but British authorities had maintained that they would arrest the Australian because he violated his bail conditions.
