Tyrannical curfew and blackout in occupied Kashmir enters 33rd day
Srinagar: The occupied Kashmir valley remains under severe military siege for 33rd consecutive day, today, as hundreds of thousands of Indian troops continue to enforce strict curfew and other restrictions to prevent people from staging anti-India demonstrations.

The valley remains cut off from the rest of the world since August 05, when the Bhartia Janta Party (BJP) led Indian government scraped special status of the held valley.

The Indian authorities have converted the Kashmir valley particularly Srinagar into a military garrison by deploying Indian troops and paramilitary personnel in every nook and corner to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the move.

Due to the severe blockade, the residents are facing acute shortage of essential commodities including baby food and life-saving medicines.

All internet and communication services and TV channels are closed in the Kashmir valley and Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Rajouri areas of Jammu region since 5th of August.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS) occupation forces have martyred 16 Kashmiris in the month of August and injured 467 with air-gun.

On the other hand, almost all Hurriyat leaders, including Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, have been put under house arrest or in jails.

Over 10,000 Kashmiris including hundreds of political leaders and workers have been detained.

Pakistan is also observing Defence Day today as Kashmir Solidarity Day to reaffirm the support of Pakistani nation to the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir who have been under lockdown for over a month now.
